Book 6, 27. How King Chilperic Entered Paris
King Chilperic now set forth for Paris on Easter Eve,1 but to avoid the curse pronounced in the pact between his brothers and himself on whichever of them should enter Paris without the consent of the others,2 he caused the relics of many saints to be carried before him, and so came into the city. He kept the Easter feast with great cheer, and caused his son to be baptized. The boy was received from the font by Ragnemod, bishop of Paris, and by the king’s will was named Theuderic.
