Book 1, 8. Of Isaac, Esau, Job, and Jacob

At the age of a hundred years he begat Isaac. And to Isaac, in the sixtieth year of his age, were born twin sons of Rebecca. The firstborn was Esau, also called Edom, which is to say, ‘earthly’, who for gluttony sold his birthright. He was the father of the Idumaeans, Jobab descending from him in the fourth generation, thus: Esau, Raguel, Zara, Jobab, who is also named Job. He lived two hundred and forty-nine years; in his eightieth year he was delivered from his infirmity, and after his deliverance he lived a hundred and seventy years, his riches restored unto him twofold, and blessed with as many sons as those whom he had lost.
